Ooosh Juice came into being in 2010 in central Manchester after Scott McArthur became the UK’s first male Natural Juice Therapist having completed Juicemaster Jason Vale’s specialist Juice Therapy Course.
Scott completed a NCFE level 2 Health and Nutrition Course in 2008 and a year later passed a DCA Fitness and Nutrition Diploma. He is now training to become a Master Herbalist.
SCOTT'S STORY, IN HIS OWN WORDS...
I got into juicing by accident really in 1998 when a good friend of mine tried in vain to get me to drink spinach juice.
Back then juicers were like something from space and were really hard to use, but one day I picked up a juicer and read the book that came with it called Ultimate Fast Food by Jason Vale.
I was hooked straight away, Jason’s style of writing had me laughing and thinking (with disgust) about the food I ate. I gave it a try and felt and saw a difference just as Jason said I would.
After a while the juicer went into the cupboard (it was a bit of a pain sometimes having to chop and squeeze things into a small hole to juice it) and the fast food started again.
In 2007 I ended up in intensive care in hospital after the doctors had to operate to check my heart. When I went onto a normal ward I was very hungry! The first thing they gave me was chips and fried turkey escalope!
I had 33 metal staples going from my chest plate right down to my pelvic region, and a wound leading to my heart that had to heal from the inside outwards. The chips went into my mouth and didn’t want to go past the first staple!
I got my mother to dig out the old juicer and juice any fruit and veg she could find. I needed liquid nourishment and fast! I drank at least two litres a day and it was a mix of all sorts mainly spinach, dark greens etc.
The doctors said I would be healing for about 2 weeks depending on infection – my deliveries kept coming and so did a group of doctors and trainee nurses who, gathering round me, said how well I was healing. Looking at my dark green drink they asked what it was and were a little confused why I would want to drink that. But with an ‘each to his own’ attitude they were ok with it.
The medical team said they had never seen anybody heal so quickly. I believe it was because I had been drinking raw green vegetable juices that my body had healed itself from the inside out!
I was hooked on juicing from them on.
I then started to learn about nutrition because I knew that the juice had healed me so quickly.

What inspired me – lack of African owned production studios in world, nowhere on the planet can you find a business owned and controlled in the world by African men or women that creates video music and marketing media all in one.
Looking at the current history of film our ancestors either sat idles by or were powerless from an onslaught of cinematography such as the minstrels, ancient Egyptians depicted as lighter shades and story after story of being depicted as sub ordinate less character compared to other actors and actress.
So my inspiration comes from taking the life purpose of making sure the last 50 years does not repeat in the same fashion when it comes to all publication, I want and I am inspired to build a business that can be recognised by the world for creating the Rolls Royce of media productions.
Why I am doing this is because I was so affected at 22 years of age finally watching roots from beginning to end and found my perceptive of the world irreversibly changed to the point it effected my interaction in certain scenarios to the detriment of my being. I then realised that films watching, the moving images the power and influence of 24-6 frames per second was something that’d impress me if I was creating them and something I felt I could be fully creative in.
